AYFN Wishes You and Yours a Wonderful Holiday Season!
During this holiday season, Alaska Youth
and Family Network extends to all our parents, youth, children,
families and friends the biggest of "Season's
Greetings" and "Thank You"! Without you
and the generous support of the community, we would not
exist. It is our heartfelt wish that 2010 brings peace,
good health and opportunity to everyone. We look forward to
working with our great families throughout the state in
2010!
AYFN's Annual Report: By the
Numbers
AYFN has compiled a
comparison of the numbers for the services
provided by the Peer Navigators in 2008 and 2009. As you can see
from the graphs below, the number of
families and children that we work with is increasing
(about 34%) every year.

Our interactions with families have increased over
44% from the previous year.
Following
are the types of assistance most frequently provided by AYFN
Peer Navigators:
- Providing information and referral
- Listening to family concerns and
providing support.
- Identifying and prioritizing the
needs of the family, and creating a plan to address their
needs.
- Assisting the family with
paperwork.
- Helping the family secure
resources.
- Preparing with the family for
meetings, including IEP meetings and treatment team
meetings.
- Attending meetings with families.
- Debriefing with families after
meetings.
- Contacting other agencies on behalf
of the family.
- Providing parenting support and
skills development.
- Providing support for behavioral
issues and behavioral support strategies.
- Providing regularly scheduled meetings and classes for ongoing group support and interaction for both parents and youth.

AYFN's involvement has decreased the
number of children at risk who use out of home
treatment or long term residential care out of state.

Our website also shows increased
traffic. The number of individuals using our site
daily, www.ayfn.org,
at year end in 2006 was 817 people per day, increasing
to 2125 people per day at year end in 2008 and reaching
2139 people per day by mid-year in 2009.
In December 2008, people looked at 95,545 pages and
in July 2009 visitors read 116,416 pages! We're glad
the site is
helpful!
